Testimonials: Watermark Freshwater buyers have their say
“We have lived in the Dee Why/Manly area most of our lives and wanted to stay in the area for our retirement. The essential criteria we were looking for included spacious, modern [quality] accommodation, a location close to the beach with good access to transport and other services – as well as an opportunity to become part of an active community. We have followed the Diggers development closely and have been impressed with the club’s emphasis on quality accommodation, community involvement and participation. We are looking forward to moving into our new apartment at the Watermark Freshwater and to becoming part of a new vibrant community.” – Bert and Jan van den Broek
“I retired from the Royal Air Force in 2013 and we moved to Australia that year to join our two daughters. We moved into a duplex with one of our daughters and son-in-law plus our first grandson so we are very happy with our current state. However, we looked to the future and started looking at Seniors Living villages. After rejecting a number we heard about the Harbord Diggers and the decision was easy. The location is perfect, close to our family and with views to die for over the ocean. The proposed facilities and access to the Harbord Club sound very promising and I am sure that the Mounties Group will not disappoint. We were guided through the process by the Sales Manager, Carolyn Tillotson who always had time to answer our multitude of questions and now feels like a friend. The timing will be ideal as we now have two grandchildren but they will be through the busy initial stages by the time we move out. We look forward to moving in and enjoying our active retirement there, confident in the knowledge that it will also be suitable when we are not so active!” – Mike and Bunny Allport, Collaroy Plateau
“We are fortunate enough to be future residents of your exciting project at Freshwater. We would like to comment on the caring and informative staff in your Manly Showroom. We have on a couple of occasions called in – just checking on different aspects of our future home – at all times both Carolyn and Miranda have been most helpful and even seem to share our enthusiasm as we look forward to the next phase of our lives in Watermark Freshwater. Having lived in our current home for 48 years the time has come to ‘down-size’. This realisation coincided with the information received from Mounties that Watermark Freshwater was in the pipeline and expressions of interest were invited. We registered an interest and shortly thereafter met with Carolyn in the Manly Showroom. After a very informative chat, viewing the model on display and selecting “our” apartment, we were convinced that this was the perfect answer to our ‘down-sizing’ needs. The activities and facilities of the Club will be literally on our doorstep and as long-term members of Freshwater Gym at the Diggers, we are pleased that we will be living so close to the new Gym facilities at Freshwater Watermark. Add to all of this the fact that Freshwater and Curl Curl Beaches will be within walking distance of our future home – what more could we ask for?” – The Bennett’s

In 2006 when time had taken its toll on the grand old lady by the sea, a decision was made to amalgamate Harbord Diggers with a like-minded club. A union with Mounties Group was prepared and the vision to redevelop the site enabling continued community was kept alive by the foresight of the Board of Directors. Mounties Group clubs are truly local institutions and continue to serve the needs of members across all generations. Putting back into the community is the backbone of Mounties Group with an active sports culture that encourages people of all ages to join up and participate in the variety of sub-clubs on offer.
